Mitred Laminated Box
Mitred Laminated Box is our beginners next steps class.
Build a lovely keepsake box which has mitred corners and shows off the laminated strips used to make the wood sides. These boxes are made sealed and then the lid is sliced off using the bandsaw. All Basic Skills classes are designed to provide a strong foundation for beginners, helping build excellent fundamental woodworking skills and proper tool usage whether they want to make furniture or fix things around the home. It all starts with a “box”.
MATERIALS: 1x4 Spruce-Pine-Fir (supplied)
PREREQUISITES: None (open to beginners)
TOOLS: Hand planes, chisels, tablesaw, jointer, planer, bandsaw
EXERCISE: Safe sequence of steps to mill raw wood to a specific size, lamination, angled cuts, and finish a small project box. Also a simple plinth from 1x3’s.
DURATION: 17.5 hours (5 sessions)
