Edge City offers classes from beginner to advanced woodworkers who appreciate the learning handtool methods. We specialize in traditional and modern tool training for small group classes. We are an inclusive community of learners with a range of skills and interests.‍

Shop Details

Classes

  • Most classes range between 1 day to 4 days or evenings

  • Maximum capacity per class is 6 students

  • We have plenty of hand tools to share, but encourage students to bring their own tools (chisels, handplanes) for maintenance hints

SHOP

Train in a dedicated woodworking shop equipped with professional-grade hand tools and machinery. Students gain experience working with the tools and techniques used in hardwood projects.

We believe the best way to learn woodworking is by doing. Our classes emphasize practical, project-based learning, giving students the opportunity to develop skills through hands-on experience at the bench.

Our shop is located upstairs in unit #260 of the artistically eclectic Mergatroid Buildling at 975 Vernon Drive in East Vancouver, British Columbia.

Parking: There is plenty of parking in front of the building and across the street. (signs on front of buildling saying “unauthorized vehicles will be towed” can be ignored for students).

Public Transit: The #22 bus comes within 1 block of the building near the corner of Clark and Venables. We are about a 7 minute walk from Hastings and Clark which serves many bus routes, and a 20 minute walk from the Commercial SkyTrain station.
