Cutting Boards - Basic skills

Learn how to use the basic woodworking machines with a group of new friends. Over four sessions, everyone will work together to produce strips of hardwood to be laminated into a cutting board. After the first lamination is complete, the project will be shaped and curved to your own design idea. Next it is shaped with the bandsaw and spindle sander. Small projects like this allow students to use machines and hand tools get a good overview of basic woodworking techniques. Ideal for beginners, this class allows students to decide which next courses to take in their woodworking journey.
DURATION: 14 hours total, all materials included (4 sessions)
MATERIALS: Maple, Black Walnut, Birch and Ash (all materials included)
TOOLS: Band saw, jointer, table saw. block plane, chisels, card scraper, and electric sanders
EXERCISE: Prep wood, cut wood , glue up/laminate wood, curve wood, and finish the surfaces
PREREQ: None (open to beginners)
